The third and final installment of Pamela Yates's trilogy "The Resistance Saga," following "When the Mountains Tremble" (1982) and "Granito: How to Nail a Dictator" (2011), "500 Years" exposes Guatemala's official history of brutality, entrenched racism and genocide through the indigenous Mayan population's uprising that threatens to topple a corrupt government.
